During Autumn term 2018, we were lucky enough to be be able to take some of our Primary and Secondary Learners to a local recording studio in Melton.
The trip gave learners hands-on experience of making a music track from start to finish. Together, we created a CD with tracks featuring our Learners. Some Learners chose to play their own whilst they sang, whilst others chose to sing to backing track – creating a lovely variety of tracks for our album.
At the end of the process, the studio made us our own CDs, which we sold at our Christmas play to help to raise funds for Rainbows Hospice.
The day was a great success and we’re very grateful to the studio for inviting us in. Our Learners really enjoyed the day and gained a great experience from it. Some of them enjoyed the experience so much they’ve told us that they would love to spend more time in a recording studio!
We’re very proud to share that, during the Autumn term, our Primary children won a ‘Primary All Stars” competition. We won £1000 worth of sports kit which we will be using in our PE lessons. We are very grateful as all the kit will go to very good use. The above picture shows some of our primary students and our new kit.
ALP Leicester have chosen Rainbows hospice for children and young people as their associated charity for this academic year 2018/19. Rainbows are the East Midlands’ only hospice for children and young people, it is a place where life-limited children and their families can find care and support. Their incredible team of people help with end of life care, symptom management, short breaks and respite care. They also support parents and siblings through bereavements and care for children until the end.
Throughout the year we will be hosting enrichment activities for all of the learners to get involved with, to raise money for this incredible charity. This will include, the Christmas Craft Fair and raffle which raised an incredible £300.73! We look forward to a year of raising money for Rainbows!
