Assistant Headteacher Pastoral/SENCo

Salary: AH3 to AH5 – £42,000 to £51,000

Location: ALP Schools, Leicester, Birstall

Contract type: Full Time, Term Time Only

ALP Leicester have been judged as Good by Ofsted and are keen to continue to develop on their journey to Outstanding. This is an exciting time as we are growing both in the numbers of learners (increasing from 35 to 55 learners) and in our positive reputation.

ALP Schools provide continuity in learning for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans. We are a provision for learners on the autism spectrum or who have other special educational needs and require quality first teaching strategies to be implemented. We cater for young people in their primary, secondary and post 16 school years. The overarching purpose of our provision is to work with children so that they are able to overcome the barriers to learning that they have previously encountered. We aim to offer flexible, structured and supportive needs led approaches.

We are looking for an Assistant Headteacher Pastoral/Special educational needs coordinator (SENCo). The post holder will have a responsibility for ensuring the safeguarding procedures and SEND provision for all learners in the school meets expectations. They will need to ensure that the school upholds its duties according to Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and the SEN Code of Practice. They will coordinate, monitor and develop opportunities for all learners with SEND in accordance with national and local guidance and the school’s SEND Policy.

The post holder may also have to engage with teaching and learning activities within the school (this is to be determined relative to the teaching background of the candidate). They may also have to lead the planning, preparation and delivery of lessons for a specific subject area.

We are looking for a Careers Leader. The post holder will be responsible for leading the delivery of Careers Education, Information, Advice, and Guidance (CEIAG) across ALP Leicester, serving as the designated Careers Leader. In addition to this role, In addition to this role, they will also contribute to teaching and learning activities related to Careers Education.

With direction and support from the Careers representative for the Executive Board and senior leaders, the Careers Leader will plan and guide a strategy for developing careers programmes in both schools that meet all of the eight Gatsby benchmarks.
